53. A-11a Weber Canyon – Information

Today the Weber River is tamed and I-84, carved into the canyon walls, provides easy passage. In 1846 a wagon road could not fit through the narrows. Despite the obvious danger, two wagon companies that started along the Hastings Cutoff about a week ahead of the Donner-Reed Party managed to pass through Weber Canyon. The larger train lost a wagon and a yoke of oxen.
